The Vermont Way blasts off!
On TUESDAY this past week, we had some early media to let people know about the release of the book the next day--Wednesday. Thanks again for the great early coverage from
On WEDNESDAY, the book was released--and we had a busy, heartwarming day: a great reception for the governor and his book.
Governor Douglas starting the day with Charlie, Ernie and Lisa at 7am.
Then it was off to Gordon Winter's ACE Hardware in St Albans, for a first book signing at 9am. The turnout was truly amazing. I'd never heard of a book signing at a hardware store before--but the Governor and I were game. A crowd turned out to see the governor and to buy his book. We sold over 70 copies. Thank you Gordon. Thank you St Albans. Thank you Franklin County.
Then the governor headed out to teach a class, as part of UVM's OLLI program, before traveling back down to Burlington for the book's official public launch at UVM, where a standing room only crowd turned out to welcome the governor, hear him read from the book, and take questions. The governor got two standing ovations.
Thank you to Richard Watts of the Center for Research on Vermont and the UVM Department of Political Science for hosting the event. And thank you to President Tom Sullivan for his thoughtful introduction of the governor.
Thanks Stewart Ledbetter of WPTZ for this coverage of the UVM event.
We sold more than 60 more books--and the governor signed many of those copies.
It is clear that Vermonters are enjoying seeing Jim Douglas once again.
As the afternoon drew to a close, the governor was off to the airport to fly to Washington, DC for two day of meetings.
